House Beautiful – Top 10 feature wall trends on Instagram
There are a number of benefits to using feature walls to create a statement in your home, including allowing you to experiment with a variety of textures and materials, as well as being a quick, easy and effective way to create a stylish focal point. In this article, House Beautiful talks us through some of the top feature wall trends of the year, based on research conducted by Dulux. House Beautiful also provides some helpful tips and tricks on ensuring your feature wall perfectly complements your space!
According to the article, panelled walls were at the top of the list for the most popular feature wall trends in 2021. It’s not hard to understand why, we’ve seen panelled walls all over our Instagram feed recently! We love how they can provide a sophisticated feel to even the most basic of rooms, and panelling a wall at home using MDF boards and paint can make a great weekend DIY project.
Next on the list of the top feature wall trends of the year is geometric shapes, and we absolutely love how versatile this trend is. According to Dulux, “All it takes is some masking tape or homemade stencils and your choice of paint colours to create something eye-catching”. You must be aware of the 9 Important Tips To Remember For Exterior House Painting Projects to achieve your expectations for your dream house. Not only this, you can produce a variety of unique designs to suit your home, from simple styles to more unique shapes. One of the more surprising trends in the article was to use plain white walls to create a focal point. According to House Beautiful, “a plain white feature wall can really stand out against other walls of differing colours or shades.”
Painting your fireplace is yet another great way of establishing an eye-catching centrepiece in your living room. The article suggests opting for a white fireplace to contrast against more bold colours and patterns in the rest of the room! Or, why not try creating a bold accent wall using deep teals, blues or reds? These look particularly stunning next to plain white walls, bringing a real statement to your space without being too overpowering.

Good Homes – Colour palette: Purple décor ideas
A new season is perfect for experimenting with new colours and as we move closer to autumn, why not consider adding a few purple accents to your home? According to Good Homes, “Purple décor is back in a big way. Shades from fig to plum and dusky mauves are perfect for creating a cosy home in autumn and winter”. Good Homes then lists nine ways you can bring the colour into your home this season, which left us feeling inspired, and so this article has made it onto our pick of favourites this week!
Firstly, if purple is a new addition to your home’s colour palette, the article suggests starting with a few purple accessories before painting your walls and choosing purple furnishings, as it’s such a bold colour. The Matte velvet bedspread from Next (pictured above) is perfect for giving your bedroom a cosy update, while the Mesmerine breakfast collection by Kenwood is great for injecting a pop of colour into the kitchen.
If you are ready to make some more drastic changes, then Good Homes also lists its choice of purple paint and wallpaper. The article suggests pairing berry shades with green tones, which we totally love! However, our favourite piece from the article has to be the French Connection Camden four-seater sofa, in the beautiful plum colour (pictured below). We adore the design of this seat and the purple shade would make a stunning statement in the living room!
