As a homes, interiors and technology public relations agency, we read a lot of articles on the latest news, trends and products for the home. This week, we’ve put together a round-up of the most inspirational articles we’ve read throughout the month.
Our write up includes articles from interiors publications These Three Rooms, Good Homes and Homes & Gardens.

Mustard yellow is one of our favourite colours here at jmm PR because not only is it on-trend, but it also does wonders for making a space feel bright and summery – which is perfect as we’re now in spring! On top of this, it’s also very versatile and will pair well with a variety of colours and shades, meaning you can add a bit of sunshine into almost any design. This article by These Three Rooms has some great tips for incorporating mustard yellow into your home!
In the kitchen, you can paint all your cabinets yellow to really bring some light to the space. Or, if you’d rather go for a more subtle approach, you can add a dash of the colour around the room using crockery and wooden accessories.
Our favourite example idea from the article was the kitchen that featured the Neapolitan Yellow porcelain tiles from Real Stone, Tile & Bathroom. The stripey, zig-zagged design gave us some real retro vibes and also gives the kitchen some excitement in contrast to the grey and white cabinetry.

In the bedroom, you can opt for a mustard yellow bedframe and/or bedding to really make your bed the focal point of the room. Or you can instead, bring sunshine to the walls by either using block colouring, a recent wall trend, which gives the room a retro look, or with patterned wallpaper.
Many of the walls in the bathroom examples featured in the article are painted entirely in mustard yellow, which works really well if you have minimalist bathroom furniture. Alternatively, you could combine yellow with another colour, the most popular being grey, and go for stylish half-and-half walls.

Good Homes – 2022’s most popular garden trends on Pinterest
Over the past few months, we’ve been keeping an eye out for predicted 2022 homes and gardens trends. Now that we’re in the warmer months, we are beginning to prep our gardens for hosting friends and family. We particularly liked this article by Good Homes, which takes a look at the most popular 2022 garden design trends on Pinterest, as it gave us many ideas for designing our own gardens this year.
The most popular garden trends pin is ‘colourful garden’ which, according to Good Homes, matches perfectly with the growing desire for more colourful homes in 2022 too. This trend has 1,435,672 pins as people have been looking to bring more excitement into their homes and gardens after two years of Covid restrictions.
‘Natural garden’ comes second in the list of popular garden trends, which also links with ‘sustainable garden’ (which comes fifth in the list) and ‘wild garden.’ This trend is exactly as it describes on the tin, it involves not making drastic changes to your garden and instead keeping it natural. Not only is this style of garden low maintenance and reduces your costs and the resources that you use but mowing your lawn less frequently, or not at all, is beneficial for the insects that live in it! ‘Sustainable garden’ requires a bit more work and involves actively seeking out eco-friendly alternatives when designing your garden.
With home bars experiencing a boom in recent years, due to pubs and restaurants being forced to close, during the pandemic, it’s unsurprising that ‘entertaining garden’ was the third most popular garden trend on Pinterest. Entertaining gardens are designed completely with guests in mind, and involve stylish, yet comfortable outdoor furniture, zoning your garden into sections for different activities and even investing in outdoor cooking equipment such as a pizza oven.
The fourth most popular 2022 garden trend on Pinterest was ‘modern garden’ which involves the mix of outdoor and indoor spaces, mainly in the form of kitchens that can open up to the patio, terraces and decking. This is a much more uniform option, in comparison to the trends that are featured further up the list as it also entails having neatly cut lawns, clean lines and potted shrubs that are accurately trimmed.

Homes & Gardens – Coastal decor ideas – 15 breezy blue and white rooms inspired by sea and shore
‘Coastal-style’ décor can refer to a variety of coast lines, including east or west coast, plus Pacific or Mediterranean. However, as it’s inspired by traditional sea front homes, this trend has several key distinctive features, which Homes & Gardens lays out in this article.
Coastal-style interior design is all about using natural textures and colours to bring a beach-like vibe to your space, and you can add touches of striped patterns and coastal décor to really bring out the style too. Rattan or ropey textures in particular work well with this trend and the best colours to use are light natural hues that make the space feel airy but can also be related to water and beach tones. This way, you can add contrasting darker items if you want to make them an outstanding focal point.
If you’re going for a less subtle look, Homes & Gardens also suggests opting for a bright blue and white colour scheme, with dashes of red, and sea-themed accessories with patterned wallpaper to match. Think porthole-shaped mirrors, stripes, anchors, and ships!
Additional decorations that can work with any coastal-style design include seashells, wicker baskets, driftwood sculptures and sea-themed paintings.
We love this aesthetic because of the calming and casual atmosphere that it brings, and it can be used regardless of whether you live near the coast or not. You also don’t have to be limited to indoor designs, as this look also works especially well with outdoor living spaces too.
We’d love to know which article you found most inspiring and if you’ll take any tips away from our roundup. Let us know in the comments!
