Team Dormy wins excellence award

The care team at Dormy House care home in Sunningdale, Berkshire, has been recognised for their dedication at the recent ceremony held by the Caring Homes Group, ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards 2010’.

Team Dormy, as they are affectionately known, won the award for Care Team of the Year, as a result of the huge amount of effort they put into their work, and the compassionate, friendly and understanding way they treat Dormy House residents.

Sian Davis, Manager of Dormy House, says: “It is a real achievement to be chosen out of so many homes, and we are going to have a party to celebrate! It has been a difficult few years because of all the building work that has been taking place at the home, and the award has given the team a real morale boost.

“We believe that Team Dormy is unique, as the staff are more like a family than a group of colleagues, and we hope that we are able to set a good example to other teams. While we are only a small cog in the big wheel of Caring Homes, we always make sure that residents receive the best care, and will always try our hardest in order to support Caring Homes’ reputation as a provider of excellent care.”

The Caring Homes Group, the UK’s largest independently owned care home group, introduced the ‘Celebrating Excellence Awards’ to recognise excellent service, commitment and dedication of the company’s unsung heroes, across all spectrums of care. Nominations were received from all the Caring Homes Groups brands; Caring Homes, Consensus, Curate and Cheshire House.

Held at the Radisson Hotel in Stanstead, Essex, the ceremony was hosted by the hilarious and outrageous act ‘ 4 Poofs and a Piano’, who are best known as the house band on BBC One’s incredibly popular ‘Friday Night with Jonathon Ross’. Over 250 members of staff from the Caring Homes Group attended the evening, which also included a delicious three-course meal. A raffle was held to support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Emma Charlton, Group Marketing Director, says: “I would like to congratulate Team Dormy on their award, it is a real achievement and they should be very proud of themselves and the important work that they do at Dormy House.

“Our staff work so hard throughout the year, and truly do deserve to be rewarded for their dedication. The awards evening acknowledged and celebrated the role of each and every member, and their outstanding contribution, effort and achievements.”
