Whirlpool’s New Supreme Care Washing Machine Gains the Coveted Quiet Mark

Leading global appliance manufacturer, Whirlpool, has gained the coveted Quiet Mark accreditation for its award-winning, new Supreme Care washing machines. The distinctive purple Q mark of approval is awarded to manufacturers who incorporate ‘quiet’ into their designs.

With revolutionary new ZenTechnology the Supreme Care washing machine range claims the quietest spin cycle on the market1 , with an average noise level of just 67 dB(A).  With noise being a growing pollutant in the home it has never been such an important criteria on the purchaser’s agenda.  With floorspace in the average home diminishing, rooms morphing into one, quietness in the home is an essential.  Whirlpool’s new washing machine range is quieter than a kettle, a vacuum cleaner and around the same pitch as general conversation, even during a full-tilt spin, so you know you are always going to be able to enjoy your conversations  with the family, friends and guests.

The award marks a continuation of Whirlpool’s new Supreme Care washing machines’ international success, following its triumph earlier in the year, when it was crowned winner of the 2015 iF Design Award, one of the most celebrated global labels for design excellence.

The energy saving A+++ (-50%) Whirlpool Supreme Care washing machine range is the quietest on the market, and both washing and spinning is extremely quiet, thanks to Whirlpool’s revolutionary new induction motor, which is connected directly to the drum, resulting in the minimum vibration and and extraordinarily quiet average of 67 dB(A). With such quietness, consumers can even run the washing machine overnight.

Quiet Mark is the trading arm of UK charity the Noise Abatement Society (NAS), and is a not-for-profit organisation that is uniquely positioned to work with brands, consumers and Government to drive awareness and support the reduction of noise related issues.

Commenting on receiving Quiet Mark accreditation for its innovative new washing machine, Jennifer Spragg, Brand and Digital Marketing Manager, Whirlpool, says: “We are very proud to receive the prestigious Quiet Mark award for our new Supreme Care front loading washing machines.

“As well as outstanding performance and the quietest washing machine on the market, our Supreme Care range marries smooth, innovative design, advanced technology with exceptional performance levels in care for garments, noise and energy. This winning combination offers a truly unique experience that requires minimal effort on the consumer’s part.  In addition, elegant lines shape the machines’ simple and harmonious appearance and the display is elegant, easy-to-use and intuitive.

“The key values of our brand are translated in a unique design language. The beauty of our new Supreme Care washing machine is inspired by design purity and premium appearance thanks to details that reflect the quality of the materials and the symmetry of the product. This result confirms our design strategy quality and the excellence of our team.

“And the Quiet Mark award is a great acknowledgement of the work we have done to develop and promote this exceptional appliance.”

Poppy Szkiler, Managing Director, Quiet Mark comments: “We are excited to award Whirlpool’s Supreme Care washing machines with a Quiet Mark.  Washing machines are traditionally one of the appliances that consumers complain about the most in terms of noise impact.  With the development of the Supreme Care washing machines, Whirlpool has shown that carefully considered design and investment in product innovation leads to a reduction in unwanted noise, helping to create a more peaceful aural environment for everyone to share, whilst still deliverling excellence in product performance.”

About Quiet Mark
In our stressful lives we are surrounded by a cacophony of sound that we have little power to stop. The louder the noise around us the more energy we waste to overcome it, and it is getting worse day by day. If we don’t do something about this soon, our ability to hear the subtle sounds around us will disappear. Quiet Mark is embarking on a journey to redress the situation, to create a demand for the use of quieter technology in our homes, in our workplace and in the open air.

Quiet Mark, a not-for-profit trading arm of the Noise Abatement Society charity, sprang from the response to public complaints received by the Society’s 24/7 national noise helpline, concerning the volume of excessive noise made by household tools and appliances which invade the fabric of everyday life. Quiet Mark brings the answer with a universal symbol and system of support for consumers and industry alike to help transform the aural environment for the benefit of all by commending the quietest technology currently available on the market. Quiet Mark product submissions are assessed by a team of the UK’s leading acousticians at the Association of Noise Consultants.

The response from industry internationally has been overwhelmingly positive with over 70 leading global brands across first 30 product categories, from dishwashers to cars, now on board including Lexus, AEG Electrolux, Dyson, LG, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung and Whirlpool, many of which are now available to buy at John Lewis. They have all achieved awards for their quieter products with the distinctive purple Quiet Mark logo. The world’s first quiet showcase featuring the award winners and other practical peacemaking solutions, including Quiet Mark’s Win a Quiet Life in 2015 monthly promotion, can be seen at www.quietmark.com
