Whirlpool Donated Dishwasher to Local Charity in Support of National Quiet Day

National Quiet Day presented the perfect opportunity for Whirlpool to support the local charity, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind, providing a much needed dishwasher to support The Sanctuary, the charity’s new initiative.

CPSL Mind has introduced the new and innovative service, The Sanctuary, to provide a safe haven for anyone experiencing a mental health crisis. The setting is a welcoming and a non-clinical environment in which visitors receive compassionate support from trained staff.   In an effort to make life easier, for both the visitors and the staff, and to keep the setting clutter-free, Whirlpool has provided and installed a SupremeClean slimline dishwasher.

Catherine Balderson, Brand Manager, Whirlpool says: “Whirlpool is recognised for their innovative and quiet technology and we established National Quiet Day to encourage people to take time out of their day and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, enjoying some sanctuary and silence .

“The Sanctuary is a truly wonderful initiative and we are really pleased to provide a dishwasher to help the team and visitors to keep the area not only calm and peaceful while the dishes are being washed and dried, but also to maintain a tidy environment for everyone.

The Sanctuary is an alternative to admission to statutory services and is open every day of the year from 18.00 to 01.00.  The service links directly to the 24 hour NHS First Response Service and is available to those experiencing a mental health crisis in this area, which is accessed via the NHS ‘111’ service.

Zoe Doherty, Fundraiser comments: “Since we opened in April 2016, our two Sanctuaries (Cambridge and Peterborough) have received over 1,000 visits from local people in crisis. The service has provided a vital lifeline for those experiencing acute distress, including many who have been experiencing thoughts of suicide and self-harm.

“We thank Whirlpool for their support and look forward to working together during the next National Quiet Day in 2018.”
