Instantor Highlights The Versatility of its Seven-System Underfloor Heating Range

With underfloor heating (UFH) playing a central role in low-temperature heating systems, Instantor is highlighting the breadth of its recently launched UFH portfolio, a range developed to provide solutions across a wide variety of floor constructions and project requirements.

Comprising seven specialist systems, the portfolio includes solutions for screed and solid floors, overlay and retrofit applications, and suspended floor constructions. From new-build developments to refurbishment projects where the floor build-up height must be kept to a minimum, the range has been designed to combine ease of installation with dependable heating performance.

Developed using Instantor’s extensive expertise in plumbing and heating, pipe, fittings and water movement technology, the seven systems included in Instantor’s UFH portfolio are:

Instantor Staple-PRO™
The Staple-PRO™ system is a quick and easy-to-install, cost effective, UFH solution. Designed to be embedded within the floor screed, it provides even heat distribution throughout the floor structure. It is ideal for installing in new build properties, and extensions where a solid floor construction is required. The UFH pipework is stapled through the slip membrane (separating layer) and into the insulation below. Capable of achieving high heat outputs, Instantor Staple-PRO™ is compatible with a wide range of floor coverings and can be installed in serpentine, spiral and counterflow pipe layouts, although Instantor recommends a spiral pattern for optimum system performance.

Instantor Rail-PRO™
The Rail-PRO™ system is also embedded within the floor screed and ideal for use in new builds and extensions. The rails benefit from an adhesive backing strip and are secured above the slip membrane by simply removing the protective backing strip and laying the rail in position. Instantor Rail-PRO™ is simple to install and offers added fixing integrity as the pipe staples can be pushed through eyelets within the rail to ensure a more secure fixing to the insulation. It’s suitable for serpentine and counterflow pipework layouts and a wide range of floor coverings including ceramic tiles and stone, solid and engineered wood, carpet and LVT.

Instantor Castel-PRO™
The Castellated Panel System is an UFH solution that is embedded within a traditional screed, low-profile screed or suitable self-levelling compound, providing even heat distribution across the floor. Benefitting from a self-adhesive backing, cutting grooves at 50 mm increments, to simplify trimming and integrated clips that securely connect adjoining panels, the castellated panels make UFH installation quick and straightforward. Ideal for applications where low temperature heat sources such as heat pumps are used, Instantor Castel-PRO™ is suitable for serpentine, spiral and counterflow pipe layouts and is compatible with a wide range of floor coverings.

Instantor Cem-PRO™
The Cement Faced XPS Panel System by Instantor is lightweight, making it easy to trim, and quick to install. Designed for use in overlay applications, it can be installed over solid and timber substrates, provided the floor is solid and level. The panels can be bonded to the subfloor using suitable flexible adhesive or mechanically fixed using screws and washers where appropriate. With a compressive strength of 400 kPa, the panels also provide excellent resistance to compressive loads. Where the subfloor meets SR2 standard, a tiled floor covering can be applied directly to the XPS panels*. Interlocking wood flooring can also be applied directly. For all other types of flooring, a minimum of 6 mm self-levelling compound should be applied prior to the final floor covering. Cem-PRO™ is suitable for a serpentine pipe layout.

Instantor Foil-PRO™
Instantor’s Foil-Faced XPS Panel System is designed for overlay applications where minimising the overall floor build-up height is essential. It can be installed over both solid and timber substrates, provided the floor is solid and level. The foil face enhances lateral heat distribution across the panel, and through the finished floor covering. Instantor Foil-PRO™ is designed for use with a serpentine pipe layout and is suitable for solid and engineered wood, carpet and LVT floor coverings. The panels also offer a compressive strength of 400 kPa, providing excellent resistance to compressive loads.

Instantor Pocket-PRO™
The Pocket Routed XPS Panel System by Instantor is for overlay applications. Designed to enhance system performance, routed pockets within the XPS panel allow the self-levelling compound to more fully encapsulate the pipe, increasing contact between the pipe and self-levelling compound while delivering up to 20 per cent improved thermal performance compared with conventional routed overlay panels. The panels also offer a compressive strength of 400 kPa, providing excellent resistance to compressive loads. Instantor Pocket-PRO™ is designed for a serpentine pipe layout and suitable for a wide range of floor coverings. Once the pipework has been installed and pressure tested, the panels should be primed before applying a minimum 6 mm layer of levelling compound. The final floor covering can then be installed**.

Instantor ChipDeck-PRO™
Instantor’s Foil Strip and Routed Chipboard System is a structurally tested, multidirectional 22 mm chipboard underfloor heating panel. It is designed to directly substitute the standard chipboard decking in a suspended or batten floor constructions. The panels are pre-grooved with a multidirectional pattern to allow UFH circuits to navigate around the room with Instantor’s 12 mm PERT/EVOH pipe. When combined with Instantor’s 6 mm cement coverboard, the system allows for maximum heat transfer and output while maintaining the structural integrity of the floor. Instantor ChipDeck-PRO™ is suitable for serpentine pipe layouts and compatible with a wide range of floor coverings.

The portfolio offers a choice of two pipe types – PEX-AL-PEX and PERT-EVOH-PERT, both of which come with a leading 50-year guarantee. To provide installers, merchants and project managers with a complete solution, Instantor’s UFH portfolio also includes wired and wireless programmable and smart thermostats, temperature sensors, wiring centres, manifolds, actuators, mixing valves, pumps and accessories.

What’s more, Instantor offers UFH single room packs, designed with installers in mind, offering a fast and reliable solution for one-room renovations, extensions, or retrofit projects. Each pack includes the essential components required to install a single-zone system, simplifying product selection and removing the need for a bespoke UFH layout drawing. This enables a quicker turnaround on-site, while simplifying the overall installation process. Available for solid and overlay floors, the range caters for room sizes from 15m² to 50m².

In addition, merchants, installers and specifiers can call upon Instantor’s specification service that provides professionally prepared design drawings, heat loss calculations in accordance with Building Regulations, installation guidance and comprehensive project support.

Jim Stafford, Instantor’s Product Manager – Underfloor Heating explains: “The new UFH portfolio embodies the DNA and core values of the Instantor brand, combining innovative engineering, installer-focused design and compliance into each of the seven systems.

Instantor UFH represents the culmination of a century of expertise, technical innovation, and industry recognition, providing professional installers with a portfolio they can rely on to deliver excellent performance and peace of mind for every installation.”
