Ideal Home – Garden bar ideas – create your own inspirational DIY outdoor bar to entertain from home

With restrictions soon being lifted and the clocks going forward this weekend, we’re really looking forward to spending lighter evenings in the garden with family and friends. With garden gatherings on our minds, we couldn’t resist trawling through this article from Ideal Home and getting some top tips for creating an outdoor bar. Whether you’ve got room to create a fancy cocktail lounge or you’re only planning on wheeling the drinks trolley into the garden this summer, this article has ideas and inspiration for gardens of all sizes.

We’re familiar with the bucket of ice life-hack that keeps bottled drinks chilled to perfection in the garden, however this article takes that summer solution to another level. For gardens on the more compact side, multifunctional furniture is a must and the ice bucket/side table combo featured in this article is fantastic for keeping drinks chilled without taking up valuable outdoor space.

Our favourite cocktail bar has to be the pale grey wooden bar (pictured above), complete with an on-trend rose gold drinks trolley and party bunting. What really makes this style stand out, is the greenery adorning the sides and canopy of the bar, ensuring it blends perfectly with the grass lawned garden.

From transforming sheds with a lick of paint to complete garden overhauls, this article is packed full of inspiration and tips for enhancing your outdoor space, including draping the ceiling, laying artificial grass and lighting ideas for your new favourite watering hole. If you’re not 100 per cent sure about converting your garage or shed into a Tiki hut just yet, then maybe a stylish wall-mounted shelf will serve the purpose (if only it served the drinks too).

Once your garden is ready, why not check out BBC Good Food’s cocktail archive for the perfect spring drink (the Mini Egg martini sounds delicious!).

House Beautiful – 8 ways to create an Instagrammable bedroom

Instagram is one of the best places to share snippets of your life with family and friends. While we love looking at our nearest and dearest’s selfies, food snaps and pet pictures, our favourite photo uploads have to be home interiors! With that being said, would you happily upload a picture of your bedroom onto Instagram? If you’re not quite sure, this article from House Beautiful shares eight ways you can create an ‘Instagrammable’ bedroom.

Earlier this month, one of our Favourite Articles of the Week choices was an ultimate guide on headboards. From reading that article from Good Homes we learnt that headboards provide a simple and often inexpensive solution to making a stunning design statement, so we weren’t surprised to see ‘statement headboard’ as the first tip in the House Beautiful article. The experts suggest that coloured velvet headboards are sure to score you some serious style points.

Another way to reel in the Insta likes is to opt for a feature wall. The floral example (pictured above) is a real eye-catcher and makes the bedroom look luxurious and pretty. We also love the pastel coloured cushions that are displayed on the bed as they really stand out from the wall. It’s so easy for accessories to get lost when they are against such a strong back drop, but these really shine in their own right.

House Beautiful also suggests adding an accent chair to a bedroom. Armchairs are great for filling larger bedrooms, adding a cute and different touch to the space. What’s more, they are super practical and a great place to unwind with some late night reading.

What we love most about this article is that it includes easy and achievable tips for creating a stunning bedroom. Whether it’s adding a bright lick of paint or a statement table lamp, the ideas are simple, yet so effective. So, are you ready to upload a photo of your bedroom onto Instagram? Let us know if you do, we would love a peek!
