Bloomcore, Ceramics, Avoiding Décor Mistakes, Plus Bedroom Trends

June has been a memorable month for us at jmm PR! We supported our client, KBBG at its Annual Members’ Meeting at the infamous Silverstone Circuit; the home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix in Northamptonshire, to celebrate its 10 year anniversary. We also had a trip to the BBC Good Food Show, enjoyed networking and celebrating the winners at the IER Awards, and enhanced our knowledge by taking part in various webinars, including one on the use of AI in PR.

Of course, we still found time to catch up on the latest homes and interiors trends. This week, we’ve put together a round-up of the most inspirational articles we’ve read throughout the month. Our write-up includes articles from Ideal Home, SheerLuxe, Daily Express, and Woman & Home… Keep reading to find out more!

Ideal Home – Bloomcore – how to make the beautiful new micro-trend work in your home

As soon as we saw the term ‘bloomcore’ we knew it would be associated with flowers, so we were keen to find out what this latest craze is all about. In this article, Ideal Home speaks to Darcie Hewitt-Dudding, an interiors expert from furn.com, who says: “Bloomcore – also known as flowercore – celebrates flowers, gardening and bringing nature indoors… bloomcore evokes the naturescape of life in a quaint English village”.

To introduce bloomcore gently, Ideal Home suggests trying the trend with soft furnishings and accessories. “Opt for more delicate and whimsical floral prints that display wildflower designs and painterly effects, as opposed to more oversized and contemporary ones for that authentic vintage feel,” says Marie Goodwin, head designer at Prestigious Textiles. For those that want to go bolder, Ideal Home recommends creating a floral feature wall using statement wallpaper. The article also includes ideas for those that aren’t a big fan of florals, such as using colours that are associated with wildflowers and fields.

SheerLuxe – 34 colourful ceramics to brighten up your summer table

Whether you are dining indoors or eating alfresco in the garden, nothing creates stylish and vibrant table décor quite like colourful ceramics. This article from SheerLuxe is the ultimate inspiration for anyone looking to add some stunning pops of colour to their summer dining table, featuring plates and bowls, as well as jugs, pitchers and platters.

The designs showcased by SheerLuxe are Mediterranean-inspired, bringing a slice of holiday sunshine to your summer tablescape (did somebody say sangria?!). We have added so many of the pieces featured in this article to our wish lists, including the ceramic side plates from Oliver Bonas, the lemon print plates from Courthouse Interiors and the gorgeous blossom jug from Cabana.

Daily Express – Top home decor ‘mistakes’ to ‘avoid’ making rooms feel ‘smaller’ and ‘claustrophobic’

Space is important, even in the smallest of rooms, so we were keen to read Daily Express’ article on the top home décor mistakes to avoid, to prevent rooms from feeling cramped.

This article is full of advice from Anne Haimes, design director and founder of Anne Haimes Interiors. For example, Anne explains the importance of avoiding oversized furniture: “A good rule of thumb when choosing a sofa is to go no bigger than two-thirds of your wall length”. The article goes on to detail how dark colour schemes can make a room feel smaller as pale shades reflect natural light, with Anne adding: “The only caveat to this is if you are painting an already small room that has no natural light source, such as a cloakroom”.

One of our favourite tricks for making a room feel bigger is to use mirrors. Anne covers this method in the article too, stating that for north-facing rooms: “strategically placing mirrors around your room will bounce light around, making your space seem lighter”. We also love the idea of creating depth by using different types of lighting such as lamps and fairy lights, with Anne concluding: “avoid harsh, overhead lighting which will make your home appear flat and smaller.”

Woman & Home – Bedroom trends 2023: 21 comforting designs and on-trend colours to inspire

This article by Woman & Home details the biggest bedroom trends of 2023, listing 21 wonderful designs. The ‘new tropics’ trend really caught our eye, which is all about bringing vibrant, tropical elements into the room to give holiday vibes. A somewhat similar trend that also stood out to us is ‘reimagined coastal chic’ (maybe we have holidays on the brain!). This look comprises blue tones, natural materials, such as wicker, and beach-themed accessories.

A simplistic, more natural look is always good for a bedroom. While the article has included some bold and colourful trends, it also has a selection of more neutral themes. These include ‘all natural’, which incorporates linen bedding and natural materials such as wood and stone, ‘nature inspired hues’, which uses calming colour palettes, and ‘quiet luxury’ where the aim is to make your home feel more expensive on a budget.

Check out the article to see the other trends and let us know which of the 21 is your favourite!
