YourHomeStyle – Autumn and winter home decor trends 2020: four styles to inspire you

If you’re anything like us, staying ahead of trends is a top priority when it comes to picking furnishings and accessories for your home. In this article from YourHomeStyle, furniture retailer IKEA reveals some of the top interior design trends set to emerge in a few months’ time. Separated into four categories, Highland Heritage, Scandi Fusion, Electric Traditions and Street Style Nomad, the feature takes us on a deep dive into IKEA’s upcoming collections and newest products, and it’s safe to say we’ve already started compiling our wish list!

Highland Heritage is a combination of natural materials, cosy textiles and dark tones, as well as patterns including tartan and houndstooth. Scandi Fusion blends minimalist materials, clean lines and a neutral colour palette, using geometric and chequered accessories to create a stylish and contemporary space. Electric Traditions is a trend that incorporates gold and brass accents, knitted patterns and second-hand elements to create a perfect combination of old and new, evoking an inviting atmosphere. Finally, Street Style Nomad is casual yet bold, using block colours, statement pieces and multipurpose furniture to create an urban, practical and vibrant space.

What we love most about this article is that IKEA provides examples of products you can purchase from each category, meaning we can easily recreate the upcoming trends in our own homes. Our favourite trend has to be Highland Heritage, perfect as the weather inevitably becomes colder and the prospect of spending cosy evenings at home becomes more inviting. By simply adding patterned textiles, candles and muted tones like olive and slate, you can recreate this trend at home without having to spend a fortune.

If you like to plan ahead to make sure you’re always on the top of your interior design game, this article is perfect for you, so make sure you check it out and let us know which upcoming trend is your favourite!

Good Homes – The biggest bathroom trends of 2020

The interior design of your bathroom is highly important. Whether you’re in and out quickly while getting ready in the morning, or treating yourself to some ‘me time’ with a long soak in the bath, it’s essential that your bathroom is a dynamic, functional and stylish space. According to Good Homes, the bathrooms that feature in this article “focus around individual creativity and designing a space that’s to be enjoyed”.

Firstly, we ADORE the pastel colour trend! Good Homes acknowledges that combining pastels is a huge trend and says pastels can be used “from tiles and paint colour all the way through to investment pieces such as baths, basins and taps”. We also think pastel accessories, such as toothbrush holders and soap dishes, are perfect for adding that finishing touch and are great for experimenting with different colour combinations.

Another trend that stands out for us in this article is adding ambient lighting to your bathroom. When relaxing in the bath, soft lighting makes the experience more calming and peaceful. We love the backlit mirror illustrated in the article, not only would it be handy when completing your daily skincare routine, it would create a tranquil atmosphere when unwinding after a long, hard day.
