Good Homes – 6 decorating tips for a durable hallway

The hallway plays an important role in the home, not only welcoming visitors and giving them a taste of our decorating styles, but also greeting us back into our own homes, whether it’s at the end of a long day at work, or returning from a holiday or weekend away. As a high-traffic area of the house that can often be neglected, it’s no wonder furnishings that are both stylish and durable are high on our hallway décor wishlist. This article from Good Homes is a must-read for anyone looking to update their hallway, filled with tips on how to achieve a beautiful, yet functional, space.

For those of us who choose to store shoes and coats in the hallway, it’s vital that our chosen décor is robust, long-lasting and easy to clean. With this is mind, Good Homes suggests opting for washable paint to enable muddy splashes and stains to be simply cleaned with ease, as well as vinyl tiles to reduce the liklihood of your floor receiving water damage or scratches. Good Homes also recommends using rugs and door mats to accessorise the room, allowing you to put your own personal stamp on your space, as well as to minimise contact between your floor and dirty shoes, maximising its lifespan.

Hallway space can often be limited, leaving little room to accessorise with decorative items. However, this certaintly doesn’t mean that you can’t still make the most of your space. Opting for stylish yet functional pieces, such as the gorgeous rattan shoe rack in this article, will provide an ideal place to de-clutter and organise your shoes, while making a stunning design statement.

First impressions really do count and that’s why we think this article is a must-read for anyone looking to update their hallway décor!

Real Homes – 5 home office decor ideas – that make working from home FABULOUS

Working from home really has become the ‘new normal’ for many office workers across the UK, including ourselves. Spending a lot of our time ‘WFH’ since March has meant that we have gone from setting up our computers on the kitchen table, to creating our very own desk spaces, which makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.

If you can’t foresee yourself entering your office anytime soon, be sure to check out this article from Real Homes for five home office décor ideas, which are sure to spruce up your workspace and creative flow!

Rattan is firmly on our agenda this week. As well as the rattan shoe rack that caught our eye in the Good Homes article above, we love the rattan accessories showcased in this article too. We’re not sure how comfy the rattan chair is, but it looks super stylish so we’d certainly be willing to give it a try!

It goes without saying that idea number four is our favourite in the article; the pink polka dot wallpaper paired with the dark green paint underneath could just be our new favourite combination! Whatever your most-loved colour or style preference, this article is bound to have something that takes your fancy. Happy reading!
