Real Homes – 5 colorful kitchens that will persuade you to be bolder in your space
As the days are getting colder and the nights are drawing in, we all need a bit of colour to brighten up our lives. It’s so easy to opt for a white or monochrome kitchen, but if you want to be a little bolder with your colour choices then look no further than this article from Real Homes. It gives five examples of different coloured kitchens and while they might not all suit your preferences, there is bound to be one or two ideas that you will love!
We adore the pastel colour scheme that is showcased within the article. This isn’t as bold and daring as the other examples but it is stylish and sophisticated. According to Real Homes, “Pastel shades look fabulous in kitchens, they are calming and help to create a light and airy feel, which is a bonus if your kitchen is situated in a darker area of your home”, and judging by the image from Burbidge, we totally agree!
We also love the sunny yellow kitchen that features in the article. Real Homes has quoted Paula Taylor, Colour & Trends Specialist at Graham & Brown on this trend: “Yellow is a great choice for kitchens particularly if there is a lack of natural light. It’s bright and cheerful nature brings positivity to the heart of the home”, and we couldn’t agree more! Yellow is often associated more so with summer interiors, but why not make the colour a permanent fixture in your kitchen to brighten up the room all year round?
Let us know your favourite colour scheme from the article and if you would dare to go bright and bold next time you update your kitchen!

Good Homes – 6 pumpkin decorating ideas for Halloween 2020
Halloween may be just around the corner, but that certainly doesn’t mean that there isn’t still time to create your very own autumnal display. A few members of the jmm PR team love using pumpkins and other seasonal décor to accessorise their homes throughout autumn, so when we came across this article, we instantly knew that it had to be featured in our Favourite Articles of the Week blog post. This piece from Good Homes provides us with six of the top pumpkin decorating trends seen on Instagram, and if you’re on the lookout for unique inspiration that doesn’t involve carving, then look no further!
Most of us have tried our hand at carving scary faces into pumpkins before, but how many of us can say that we’ve used them to display beautiful seasonal flowers? We love the idea of turning pumpkins into vases and displaying them on our front porch, window ledge or mantelpiece! Elsewhere in the article, Good Homes shows us just how easy it is to create a gorgeous autumnal display with hand-painted pumpkins, including using gingham patterns or abstract designs to add a more individual and unique touch to your décor.
Our favourite idea in the article has to be the pastel coloured mantelpiece display. The purple, pink and white tones aren’t the first thing that usually come to mind when we think of Halloween, but the pastel painted mini pumpkins are a beautiful alternative to displays that typically tend to be dominated by orange and brown tones. We particularly love the gold stems which add a stunning contrast!
This article is sure to inspire you to swap your carving knife for flowers, paint and any other arts and crafts supplies you can get your hands on. With 31st October soon approaching, and social distancing guidelines and local lockdowns commonplace across the country, chances are your Halloween plans will be slightly different this year. With that being said, why not mark the occasion by taking some ideas from this article and creating your very own pumpkin display. We’d love to see your creations!
