Ideal Home – Kitchen splashback ideas to keep kitchen walls protected in style

Splashbacks play a vital role in the kitchen, protecting your walls from splashes, grease, steam and heat. Traditionally known for being highly functional, in recent years, we have started to see splashbacks also become a focal point in the kitchen. Available in a wide range of materials, colours and designs, splashbacks are a great way of breathing a new lease of life into your kitchen. In this article, Ideal Home provides a plethora of advice, ideas and heaps of gorgeous inspiration too, and it’s definitely a must-read for anyone planning a kitchen makeover!

With such a wide range of designs, patterns and materials on offer, selecting the right splashback for your space can often be a difficult task. As Ideal Home explains in this article, splashbacks are a great way of experimenting with different patterns and colours, so opting for unique tile designs, such as hexagons or mosaics, is a simple and effortless way of making a statement. When it comes to creating a modern and sophisticated look, the Ideal Home team also suggests matching your splashback to your worktop surface, a tip that works best with materials like marble or laminate.

Our favourite piece of advice is mismatching tiles for a totally unique design. As the article suggests, opting for different tiles that have a similar design or colour palette works particularly well behind the hob or sink, and we love the idea of mismatching various patterns to create a stunning design! So, if you’re planning a kitchen revamp and are looking for some splashback guidance, this article is sure to provide everything you need.  Trust us, if you’re not already planning on updating your kitchen splashback, you will be after reading this article!

Good Homes – 5 ways to create a cosy lighting scheme

With the days getting shorter and the dark nights coming in, now is the perfect time to re-think your lighting schemes at home. Lighting is a very important factor that should be carefully considered in every room. Changing your lighting scheme can completely re-vamp the vibe of a room. If you’re looking to create a cosy feeling within your home as we move into autumn, then look no further than this article from Good Homes as it’s full of tips on how to use lighting to create a super cosy ambiance.

When we think of spending a cosy evening indoors, the first thing that comes to mind is fairy lights! Who doesn’t love a fairy light? Not only are they an easy addition to any room, they create a cute and cosy vibe. We weren’t surprised to see fairy lights in this article and we love the idea of adding them to a sideboard for an instant autumnal update!

The top tip that we’ve taken away from this article is that ‘an amber glow is perfect for a cosy and warming scheme, whereas a soft white light is ideal for working areas of the home.’ We’ll certainly bear this in mind and consider adding amber hues to our living spaces and bedrooms. We also love the idea of adding a warm glow to the bathroom with wall hung lights, rather than a ceiling light. There’s nothing quite like a relaxing bath on a dark evening and this suggestion would create the perfect hub for a good soak.

Whether you’re up for re-thinking your fixtures and fittings this autumn, or you’re simply looking to add fairy lights or a lantern here and there, this article provides all the lighting inspiration you’ll need. Enjoy!
