Homes & Gardens – Apartment living room ideas – 10 ways to enhance a studio space

One of the trickiest parts of living in an apartment, particularly a studio, is the lack of space when it comes to furnishing and decorating. This is why we love these ideas by Homes & Gardens for making your apartment living room feel as spacious and welcoming as possible.

One clever idea that Homes & Gardens has is to draw attention away from the lack of space and have one centre piece feature that is framed by the rest of the room. This could be a large piece of artwork, an oversized light feature, or a wall-to-floor mirror. Mirrors in particular are a great choice, as their reflections can be used as a clever tactic to make a room look larger and brighter.

If you live in an open-plan space, it’s a good idea to zone out a living area when placing your furniture to prevent your room looking disorganised. This is even more important if you live in a studio flat as designating zones for a living area, dining, sleeping, and working is vital for not only keeping your space looking coordinated, but dividing your work and sleeping areas is important for your wellbeing too. And if your living area has a window with a great view, arrange your furniture to direct the attention towards that, opt for armless sofas and an unconventional living room layout to make sure the line of sight isn’t broken. Homes & Gardens also suggests using curved furniture if your living area is small, as furniture with rounded edges appears visually smaller, so will create the illusion that it’s taking up less space.

More so than ever, small spaces require organisation and de-cluttering. Not only will removing unnecessary items make the room feel cleaner, but it will also appear more spacious. If you don’t have the room for large storage solutions, built-in cabinets are a great option for putting away any unneeded items without taking up too much space. Homes & Gardens also recommends having multi-use furniture such as storage that can be used as a coffee table or a sofa bed, as these will help free up even more room.

House Beautiful – H&M Home launches Christmas 2021 collection

Today marks the final Friday of October, and just 56 days until Christmas Day! We’ve seen lots of festive-themed articles this week and, although it may be a little bit early for some, we’re already planning our Christmas décor for our homes this year. If you need some inspiration or fancy trying something new with your festive décor, we’ve found a great article from House Beautiful, which offers a sneak peek at H&M Home’s brand new Christmas collection.

Homewares from H&M are not only stylish and on-trend, but they are extremely budget-friendly too, and its gorgeous Christmas collection is no exception! The range includes stunning tree ornaments, decorative pieces and tableware, as well as items perfect for making your home a cosy haven this Christmas, such as wool-blend blankets and festive scented candles. We particularly love the paper decorations that are available in Christmas tree and star shapes. These are great for adding a unique and more sustainable touch to your décor.

When it comes to entertaining, which we all know is key during the Christmas period, the selection of beautiful cocktail and prosecco glasses included in the new range are sure to impress your guests! If that’s not enough, the collection also includes wrapping paper, ribbon and bows, so not only will your home look stunning, but your gifts will too. Our favourite items from the article are the festive cushion covers, which are available in traditional colours like red and green, as well as in beige for those that prefer a more neutral decorating style. These are perfect for giving your sofa, armchair or bed a seasonal makeover!

If, like us, you can’t wait to decorate your home for the festive season, make sure you check out this article and don’t forget to let us know which item from H&M Home’s new festive collection is your favourite. Looks like a Christmas shopping trip is in order this weekend!
