Colourful Homes, Lilac Décor and Rattan Inspiration

April has been another super busy month for us here at jmm PR. We organised a press reception at a brand new luxury kitchen appliance showroom in Chelsea, helped two of our clients prepare for industry exhibitions and we were also lucky enough to attend the legendary kbbreview awards this month too! In addition to all of this, we have been spending lots of time reading about how to update our homes.

This week, we’ve put together a round-up of the most inspirational articles we’ve read throughout the month. Our write-up includes articles from House Beautiful and Good Homes, as well as a blog post from The Handbook.

House Beautiful – 5 approachable ways to add more colour to your space

In this article, House Beautiful teaches us all about how to add more colour into our homes using approachable techniques, utilising handy tips from Doctor and Digital Creator Sophia Brennan. Sophia, who has spent six years transforming her home in Stockport into a colour-filled oasis for her family to enjoy, explains the methods she used to turn her home into a vibrant and inviting space, while sharing her best tips and tricks for those looking to brighten up their living spaces.

For those of us that are more comfortable decorating with neutral shades, adding bright colours and patterns to our home can be intimidating, and it can often be difficult to know where to start. As the article explains, there are lots of easy and straightforward ways to introduce pops of colour to a room without going overboard, such as opting for colourful accessorises including plant pots and cushions.

Houseplants can also help to add beautiful bursts of colour to a room, and we love the idea of using a gallery wall to mix and match different shades and patterns, while creating a real focal point! Another great idea from the article is to have fun with furniture, and this is something that can be achieved by purchasing quirky items including tables, chairs and storage, to create a vibrant and playful feel.

Good Homes – Colour trend: Lilac décor ideas

If you’re a regular visitor to our blog or have been following us on social media for some time, you’ll be well aware of the fact that our favourite colour is pink! However, at jmm PR we also love filling our homes with beautiful pastel shades such as mint green, sky blue and lemon yellow. In this article, Good Homes tells us all about the latest colour trend, lilac! It is perfect for the spring/summer season, and the article provides some ideas on how to introduce the stunning shade into our homes.

Our favourite tip that we took away from the article is to add a pretty glow to utility rooms, hallways and pantries with a lilac pendant light. We also absolutely love the idea of painting a kitchen lilac, it’s such a unique colour and is sure to brighten up even the gloomiest of spaces!

Elsewhere in the article, Good Homes picked out some stunning lilac home décor pieces, including some beautiful striped wallpaper by Bobbi Beck (pictured below). We also love the lilac locker featured in the article, offering a perfect storage solution to declutter a room, while providing a stylish pop of colour.

The Handbook – Update Your Home With This Season’s Take On The Rattan Trend

Now we’re in spring and moving ever closer to summer, rattan furniture is a rising trend once again. Rattan is very popular in the garden, but it also looks wonderful indoors and is great for those that love the boho style all year round. As soon as we spotted this blog post from The Handbook, we knew it would be one of our top reads of the month.

Within the blog post, the team from The Handbook has put together a list of some of their favourite rattan furniture pieces, from drawers and lampshades to dog beds and hanging chairs! The article also includes smaller items such as rattan cutlery, trays and placemats.

Our favourite item from the article would have to be the faux sheepskin boucle and rattan chair from Oliver Bonas, which we think would be perfect for relaxing in with a book or a glass of wine. The pink rattan napkin bows from Mrs Alice (pictured below) are another one of our favourite picks and are sure to brighten up any dining table! We’re big dog lovers here at jmm PR so it’s no surprise the stunning dog bed from Coco & Wolf has made it onto our list of top items too.
