Whirlpool Achieves Distinction

Forbes Magazine has named Whirlpool Corporation to its Just 100 list, a recognition that celebrates America’s best corporate citizens.

The Just 100 distinction was driven, in part, by Whirlpool Corporation’s leadership in engineering energy-efficient consumer products. The company has received 38 ENERGY STAR® Awards since 1998, for its continued commitment to energy and water efficient products, more than any other appliance manufacturer in the U.S. and Canada.

Forbes’ ranking also cited Whirlpool Corporation’s commitment to diversity, which has led to a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s U.S. Corporate Equality Index for the past 13 years, and a continued designation as a ‘Best Place to Work’ company for LGBT Equality.

“We’re proud of this recognition, which is a strong testament to our commitment to social responsibility in all aspects of our business – from providing a great workplace for our employees and instilling trust in our stakeholders, to delivering more environmentally-efficient products for our consumers,” said Jeff Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Whirlpool Corporation.

Every year, Forbes partners with Just Capital – a non-profit, created by billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones II – to recognise just corporate citizens across a variety of sectors. The research team surveyed 50,000 Americans who in turn scored and ranked 1,000 companies within their industries according to ten metrics: worker pay and benefits, worker treatment, supply chain impact, community well-being, domestic job creation, product attributes, customer treatment, leadership and ethics, environmental impact and investor alignment.

This latest accolade by Forbes follows several similar recognitions for Whirlpool Corporation. The company has been named on Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens, 12 out of 15 years, and achieved its sixth consecutive distinction on Fortune Magazine’s Most Admired Companies this year.

Even as Whirlpool Corporation has grown over its 105 year history, from a small local Michigan business, to the world’s leading global manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, the company has remained true to its roots through a collective commitment to social responsibility founded in its local and global community.
