Whirlpool Wins ek&bbusiness Award for Appliance Innovation

Whirlpool, the world’s leading manufacturer of major home appliances, won the first ever, Essential Kitchen & Bathroom Business, Appliance Innovation of the Year Award for their premium Supreme Care connected laundry pair.

The Christmas themed event was held at The Brewery on 1st December, complete with carol singers, mischievous elves and cabaret singer and dancers. The inaugural ek&bbusiness Awards and Review 2016 reviewed the kitchen and bathroom industry’s year, and was created to celebrate the fantastic achievements across the entire industry including manufacturers, designers and retailers, and for the first time ever marketing and communications teams too.

Comedian Josh Widdicombe entertained an audience of nearly 500, and announced the laudable winners, with Whirlpool taking home the first ever, Appliance Innovation of the Year Award, for their premium Supreme Care connected laundry pair. The FSCR 12441 washing machine and matching HSCX 10441 tumble dryer can be controlled from anywhere, by an app on a smartphone or tablet, thanks to 6TH SENSE Live® technology, the maximum expression of Whirlpool’s undertaking to create purposeful technology to simplify consumers’ lives.

With the 6TH SENSE Live® app, available on both iOS and Android, creates dialogue between the washing machine and tumble dryer. The app communicates the washer’s current load type and spin speed and the dryer will automatically synchronise with the washing machine and set the correct drying cycle, simplifying the laundering process.

Jennifer Taylor, Senior Brand Manager, Whirlpool says: “Whirlpool invests heavily in new technology that’s intuitive, makes life easier, and saves our finite resources. The live laundry pair was the first of our connected range to market and we feel ecstatic to be honoured and recognised in such a competitive awards category. Connected appliances, such as the Whirlpool 6TH SENSE Live® laundry pair, offer innovation that brings genuine lifestyle benefits and crucially takes resource saving to the next level.”
