Whirlpool's 6th Sense® Tumble Dryer Is Awarded Which? Magazine's Best Buy

Whirlpool’s AWZ 8578 condenser tumble dryer has been awarded the ‘Which? Best Buy for Exceptional Value’ in November 2009.

The Whirlpool AWZ8758 was rated as exceptional value and gained the highest possible score of five stars for its condenser efficiency, demonstrating the best water extraction with an incredible 95%.  According to Which? this means ‘you’re unlikely to end up with a steamy kitchen’.

The AWZ 8578 uses Whirlpool’s ‘6th Sense’® technology, which eliminates the need to manually set a programme.  The dryer senses the dampness of the load and automatically adapts the programme to deliver optimum drying performance giving efficient energy usage and time savings.  Which? Magazine found that the loads dried evenly, the dryer was easy to use and the running costs reasonable, gaining four out of five stars in all three areas.

Also mentioned in the report was Whirlpool’s 6kg vented tumble dryer, the AWZ 3303. Which? Magazine said that it was ‘exceptional value for a Best Buy…’

Ray Isted, Head of Training for the Whirlpool Group says: “This is another proud achievement for Whirlpool and a superb result for tumble dryers generally.  I am sure most of us feel that a tumble dryer is a bit of a luxury, but when you consider these exceptional results of our Whirlpool 8kg tumble dryer in the Which? tests, it clearly demonstrates what a great product it is.

“We aspire to making life easier for the consumer, and it proves we do it well and energy efficiently.”

Interestingly Which? tested their first A rated dryer in 2003, which took over seven hours to dry a load.  Today’s tumble dryers are incredibly energy efficient taking less than half time and using a quarter of the energy!  The Which? magazine commented that ‘tumble dryers are often considered wasteful, but our tests show that new machines can be efficient and cheap to run’.

The benefits of the Whirlpool 6th Sense AWZ 8758 Condenser Tumble Dryer:

  • Extra large 8kg (128l) capacity
  • Whirlpool ‘6th sense’® Technology delivers optimum drying performance with maximum energy and time savings
  • Reverse-tumble action to reduce tangling and improve drying efficiency
  • Sensor control automatically ends the programme when perfect drying has been achieved to eliminate the risk of over-drying.  This over-dry protection system reduces the common cause of creasing.
