Heffle Court care home holds Easter open day

Heffle Court care home, in Heathfield, East Sussex, will be throwing its doors open and welcoming all for a special Easter event on Monday 5th April.

The open day will be the finale to a week of Easter-themed activities for the residents of Heffle Court, and will be held at the home on Monday 5th April from 2.30pm. Visitors can take part in a variety of fun activities, suitable for all the family, including a children’s Easter egg hunt, and Easter bonnet parade.

The Easter open day promises to be fun-packed for residents and visitors alike, with a range of games and stalls including a tombola, ‘Name the Teddy’ stand, and a raffle. For those craving a traditional cream tea, the Heffle Court teashop will be open for the duration of the event, with a delicious selection of scones and cakes on offer. Run by local volunteers, the shop will also stock a variety of old fashioned sweets and treats, perfect for a tasty trip down memory lane!

Heffle Court has organised an action-packed week of activities for residents, and their relatives and friends, in order to mark the special occasion of Easter. Festivities will begin a week before the open day on Monday 29th March, with an Easter crafts session in the morning, before the teashop opens in the afternoon. On Tuesday, residents will make Easter cards for friends and family, and watch a special performance of ‘California Here I Come’, a non-stop musical show based on Al Jolson and the stars of the sensational 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.

On Wednesday, residents will have the opportunity to decorate Easter bonnets and cook Easter chocolate treats. Thursday will be a real highlight for residents, as they make an Easter basket. Each resident will make a basket, which will then be shared out on Easter Sunday. On Friday, residents will visit Raystead animal sanctuary, while Saturday sees the grand opening of Heffle Court’s new prayer room and a special prayer service.

Sam Keylock, Activities Coordinator at Heffle Court, says: “Our Easter Week is shaping up to be very exciting, and we hope that as many people as possible will join us for the special open day on Monday 5th April. There will be lots for visitors to do, and all the residents are looking forward to the event.

“We are particularly excited about the Easter bonnet competition as we are sure to be impressed by the creativity of the entries! It is important for us to maintain strong links with the wider community, and so we are really pleased to have the opportunity to welcome others into our wonderful care home.”
