House Beautiful – ‘Mys’ is the winter routine you’ve been doing all along but should embrace even more

Hygge has well and truly taken off over the past couple of years. Starting off as a Danish word that encompasses the feeling of cosiness, warmth and well-being, encouraging people to enjoy the simple things in life, hygge has now found its way into bookstores, interior design trends, recipes and clothing around the world. As if we needed another excuse to incorporate more cosiness into our lives, this article introduces us to hygge’s Swedish equivalent, mys.

Mys encourages us to enjoy cosy surroundings and take time out to switch off from the outside world, highlighting the importance of slowing down and becoming closer to the people around us. This article provides us with handy tips on how to incorporate mys into our daily lives, whether it’s opting for a cosy night in, spending a bit longer in bed in the morning or curling up with a good book. As the weather gets colder and the nights get darker, mys is the perfect lifestyle trend to get us through the upcoming winter months. Whatever your plans for the weekend, why not take some time out to pull on a cosy jumper, light some candles, or spend some quality time with loved ones, we know we will be!
