With budgets being squeezed and more consumers stocking up on attractive supermarket offers, Whirlpool research has found that more freezer space is in great demand. There has been a surge of interest in under-counter freezers, as well as chest freezers and big cabinets.
Whirlpool’s extensive range of freestanding freezers provides a wide choice of models for different requirements, and all have excellent energy ratings packed with the very latest freezing technology.
Whirlpool’s upright freezers are full of innovative solutions for using space intelligently. A dedicated compartment provides quick access to frozen pizzas and eliminates the problems of other items being stacked on top of them. The special Ice Zone provides hygienic storage for ice trays or can be used for quickly freezing delicate fruits like berries.
Compact drawers allow users to store smaller items in an orderly and visible way, while bulky loads can easily be fitted into the extra tall Max Space compartments – they are 70% taller than normal drawers. The ergonomic ‘soft opening’ system makes the freezer extremely easy to open (nine times easier than a normal model) thanks to Whirlpool’s combination of an easy-opening handle and a patented air valve system to equalise air pressure inside and outside the freezer. A modern user interface provides constant feedback on the selected functions of the freezer.
The Whirlpool range consists of both cabinet freezers and under-counter freezers; however, for space and a sense of security, the eternal appeal of the capacious chest freezer shows no signs of diminishing. Whirlpool has seven models in its chest range, with gross capacity ranging from 207 to 510 litres. The chest freezers have been much praised throughout the industry and the AFG 070 NF E-AP was recently awarded the Which? Magazine’s Best Buy.
The model achieved a test score of 72%, which was the best score in the chest freezer category. During testing the freezer gained the highest score of five stars for insulation and four stars for recommended setting and reliability.
Dean McKelvie, Product Marketing Manager, Freestanding comments: “Whatever the consumer’s requirements, we take great pride in offering an extensive portfolio of freestanding freezing appliances that combine great aesthetics with state-of-the-art technology. Times are tough and are likely to get tougher, and many of us are now on the hunt for cost-effective, good quality and energy efficient freezer capacity to store money-saving, multi-buy purchases, as well as the capacity to freeze down fresh foods and garden produce.
“Freezers with excellent energy ratings like ours are a sound and sensible long-term investment – and their intelligent technology means that they pretty much look after themselves.”
