Here at jmm PR, we have been scouring the internet for our favourite articles of the week.

This week brings the latest interior trend that is popping up all over Instagram and ideas from past Chelsea Flower Shows for the garden.

Ideal Home – The monochrome interior trend that Instagram is going dotty for

Many of us have spent the majority of the past two months inside, keeping ourselves occupied by baking banana bread, watching lots of TV box-sets and giving our homes a little update. This article from Ideal Home delves into the latest trend taking Instagram by storm, Dalmatian print.

The super-easy to apply print looks stunning on a feature wall or painted onto wooden furniture. Whether you’re giving your living room a spruce-up or investing in a spotted splashback for the kitchen, this dotty trend works in a variety of rooms throughout the house.

Our favourite example of Dalmatian print so far has to be the spotted staircase, which complements the homeowner’s style perfectly. It really makes a statement and looks so inviting, which has left us feeling super-envious when looking at our own plain, dot-free steps. Do you dare to go dotty and add some Dalmatian print to your home?

Houzz – 8 Brilliant Ideas to Steal from Past Chelsea Flower Shows

The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the latest events to go digital while we can’t go out and about. Spending the majority of our time at home has made us all appreciate our gardens like never before, so naturally we’ve found ourselves perusing articles on gardening more often.

This article from Houzz highlights ideas from past Chelsea Flower Shows and a few things have caught our eye!  Firstly, we LOVE the image of the sunken urban garden. The different levels and the addition of steps make the garden look like its own little world, a perfect place to relax and unwind.

The article suggests using a symmetrical layout to create a calm feel, as a balanced look is easy on the eye. We think that’s a great idea and, judging by the Italian-style English garden image in the article, it really works. We might not go as far as placing and cutting hedges symmetrically in our own gardens, but it’s got us thinking about buying large pots or garden ornaments and placing them opposite each other as an easy way to create a balanced look. Fingers crossed for some sunshine this weekend so we can put our ideas into action!
