Good Homes – 7 ways to update your living room for free

We’re forever dreaming of being able to revamp our homes with an endless budget. While many of our home renovation ideas come at a price, this article from Good Homes gives seven superb ways to update your living room for free! According to the article, Google searches for ‘cheap home decorating’ increased by 83 per cent between February and April 2020, so thinkmoney kindly put together this guide full of renovation tips that don’t cost a penny.

The first tip is to rearrange your furniture. Rearranging the layout of your living room can make it look like a completely new space, so why not move your coffee table this weekend or even go as far as completely turning your living room around?! We also like the idea of using offcuts of wallpaper and fabric to make an interesting feature. This can make for a fun project for anyone that has bits and bobs from previous renovations lying around. Other tips include repainting a piece of furniture, filling an empty fireplace and hanging you curtains higher.

So, if you think your living room is in need of a spruce up but your purse has other ideas, then be sure to check out this article.

Real Homes – Grey kitchen ideas: 16 gorgeous looks for a classic colour scheme

Over the past few years grey has become a firm favourite colour throughout the house, offering an alternative neutral shade to white or cream. This article from Real Homes shows us a variety of different ways to include grey into the kitchen, from cabinets to splashbacks, and offers advice on complementary accents.

If your kitchen is due an overhaul, but the budget won’t stretch to new cabinet fronts, painting your kitchen cupboard doors grey, light or dark, is an easy way to freshen up your space with the on-trend shade. Metallic finishes, such as brass and copper, in the kitchen have also proven popular in recent years and complement grey tones, perfectly. Why not invest in a Rose Gold tap, such as the InSinkErator 3N1, which adds warmth to a grey kitchen theme.

Painting walls and cabinets grey is one way to incorporate the shade into the heart of your home, however this article also highlights how investing in grey tiles, blinds or patterned wallpaper can be just as effective. If you’re looking for some kitchen inspiration, or haven’t considered a grey colour scheme, we’d recommend giving this article a read. The example images are great for visualising how the end result could look too!
