Ideal Home – 29 easy garden ideas – simple, low-maintenance updates to transform your outdoor space

With lockdown restrictions slowly lifting and the prospect of meeting our loved ones outside soon, now is the perfect time to spruce up the garden to make it an inviting and joyous space. If you are unsure where to start, Ideal Home has shared some simple and low-maintenance ideas to transform your garden with ease.

Firstly, it’s important to give your garden a spring clean. Clearing up leaves, sweeping the patio and power-washing the walls will give your garden an instant spruce up and leave space for making further tweaks and additions. The article suggests dotting colourful plant pots around the garden and we love the mix of pots that Ideal Home showcases (pictured above). We’re also on-board with investing in some ‘faux-liage’ and think that placing faux plants and flowers around the garden is a fail-safe way of adding colour all year round.

Over the past couple of years we’ve heard more and more about the growing trend of outdoor living rooms. Ideal Home suggests using water-proof rugs as well as comfy garden furniture and a patio heater to create the ultimate outdoor living space. However, the idea we love the most is adding a mirror to the garden to create the illusion of more space. We have never thought of purchasing a weather-proof mirror before but we absolutely love the idea of making our gardens look bigger with this top tip.

There are plenty of ways of bringing your interior design outside, including using old storage and shelves. The article explains how old shelves are great for creating a potting table or vertical planter. In the past we’ve also seen old drawers used as planters, which adds a quirky and unique touch to the garden.

We have so many ideas for our gardens after reading this article and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us this year, so we can enjoy lots of time outdoors!

Good Homes – 5 floor lamps to brighten up your home

Thinking about upgrading the lighting in your home but unsure about which type to go for? This article is perfect for you! There’s a huge variety of different types of lighting available, from ceiling and wall lights to table lamps and fairy lights. In this article, Good Homes explains why purchasing a floor lamp is one of the simplest and most effective ways of transforming a room, in addition to providing five of their top floor lamp picks!

Floor lamps provide a plethora of benefits, including brightening up a room, creating the illusion of extra space and helping to create a cosy atmosphere. Not only this, they can also complement your existing décor, helping to create a stylish focal point.

We have to say, we love every single one of the Good Homes team’s floor lamp picks from this week’s article! The beautiful ‘Iconic cubic matt gold’ option (pictured above) is the perfect feature for any room that’s in need of some added flair, while the rustic, antique brass coloured pick from Muturi is a stunning option ideal for anyone looking for an industrial-style lamp for their living room. We also love the grey ‘Jaz Fringe’ lamp from Dunelm, which is a bargain at just £55! We think this option would look great in a bedroom or dressing room for an added touch of elegance.

Do you have a room in your home that could benefit from a stylish new floor lamp? Make sure you check out these beautiful options and let us know in the comments section which one is your favourite!
