House & Garden – Lovely ideas for festive place settings
Let’s face it, for the vast majority of us, Christmas is going to be a little bit different this year. Despite this, whether you decide to opt for virtual celebrations or to surround yourself with your Christmas bubble, a festive meal is something we’ll all be looking forward to. There’s no better time than now to make the most of celebrating with our nearest and dearest, which is why we love this article from House & Garden on how to create beautiful festive place settings.
Whether you prefer traditional decorations incorporating colours like gold, red and green, or a more modern, playful take on the festivities, this article is filled with a huge variety of gorgeous table inspiration, so there’s bound to be something that will complement your chosen theme this year. With ideas such as using sprigs of Rosemary to create rustic place-card holders, or embellishing your table with hand-painted baubles, it’s easier than you may think to create stunning table décor that will wow your guests this year.
We love the idea of wrapping a small gift for each guest or family member and incorporating it into your place setting design. Another great tip is to tie baubles to the back of your dining chairs (pictured), as well as to decorate your table with colourful candle sticks and napkins, all of which will create a colourful twist for those of us that aren’t fond of traditional Christmas decorations. So, if you’re on the lookout for tips on how to create a perfectly styled festive table for when you serve up what is arguably the most important meal of the year, this article from Homes & Gardens is a must read!

Good Homes – 5 Christmas trees from Instagram we are loving in 2020
It’s no surprise that both of our favourite articles this week are Christmas themed. Our next article moves away from the dinner table and focuses on the pièce de résistance; the Christmas tree! The feature from Good Homes looks at Christmas tree designs that have made a lasting impression on Instagram. If you like to get creative and come up with a new theme each year, this article is bound to bring you some festive interior inspiration. Or if dusting off the family baubles and re-using traditional decorations are more your thing, then you’ll still enjoy a snoop at other people’s Christmas décor, what better way to spend a cold and wintery Friday?!
Usually when reading articles on trends we instantly have a favourite. However, this time, we simply couldn’t choose! We love the ‘Honeycomb luxe’ tree, which uses paper decorations and large honeycomb balls under the tree, making a great alternative to stacking presents. The ‘Monochrome magic’ tree is simply stunning and great if your interiors are black and white. As an alternative to traditional baubles and tinsel, we love ‘The wild tree’. We’ve noticed floral Christmas decorations a lot on Instagram this year and it’s a trend we’ll certainly consider in the future.
The only trend we’re not quite sure we’re on board with is the ‘Perfect pampas’ tree, which is a Christmas tree made out of pampas grass. We like the odd pampas grass stem, but we don’t think a whole pampas grass tree can quite match the more traditional Norway Spruce or Nordmann Fir.
Have you seen a particular style of Christmas tree popping up more often on Instagram this year? We’d love to know what trends you are noticing and if you are following any of them, let us know in the comments below!
