Homes and Gardens – Green is 2020’s biggest kitchen colour trend – how to use it and what not to do

If you’re a regular reader of our blog, you will probably have seen last week’s post on the ‘Most Instagrammed Room Colours’ (if you missed it, you can check it out here). In the article, we discovered that green was the top kitchen colour searched for on Instagram throughout 2020, and if our logo hasn’t already given it away, we are big fans of green here at jmm PR! That’s why, when we saw this article from Homes and Gardens on how to use green in your kitchen, we knew instantly that it would be featured in this week’s Favourite Articles of the Week blog post.

When it comes to kitchens, white or grey colour schemes have traditionally been favoured over bolder or more daring shades, and it’s easy to see why. Renovating a kitchen is a long-term investment for most of us, meaning a timeless colour that will stand the test of time tends to be a more popular choice. Despite this, there’s a very good reason why green has topped Instagram’s list of the most popular kitchen colours. With the huge variety of shades of green that are on offer, from muted olive and sage tones for a neutral aesthetic, to brighter and bolder versions that are sure to create a statement, whatever look you are trying to achieve in your kitchen, there’s a shade of green that will complement it perfectly.

In this article, Homes and Gardens explains the do’s and don’ts of getting green kitchens right, from maximising light and utilising warm metallic fittings to avoid dark green tones from looking gloomy and unwelcoming, to opting for a white sink and black cabinet handles alongside more muted green shades to provide a stylish contrast. Our favourite idea is to incorporate green accessories into the kitchen for a quick and easy update, a perfect tip for those of us that are a little green-shy but still want to get in on the action!

Whatever your thoughts on green, this article proves just how much potential the colour can have in the kitchen. Would you incorporate green into your kitchen design? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

These Three Rooms – 10 trendy desk lamps to brighten your home office

Articles focused on sprucing up a home office have become the norm over the recent months. One good thing that has come out of ‘WFH’ is the excuse to decorate an area of our homes that we never had before! Our desks are something that we look at for hours each day, so it’s only right that they’re on-trend.

Having the correct lighting while working is important, not only so we don’t strain our eyes but to help with concentration. We sometimes find ourselves battling with the blinds, main light and the brightness of our computer screens. Lamps can be a great solution and help create the level of light that is just perfect for you. Luckily, this article from These Three Rooms showcases 10 trendy desk lamps to help you if you’re on the lookout for something new!

Our favourite has to be the Matt Ochre metal triangle table lamp from Spicer and Wood. The mustard colour of the lamp is very on-trend for this season and the shape is unique and stylish. If your desk is in a large area, why not try a floor lamp? The Ned standing lamp from Pooky is super cute and would certainly brighten up a working space.

Do you have a lamp on your ‘WFH’ desk? Let us know if so, we’d love to see pictures of your creative work spaces!
