Real Homes – DIY kitchens: 6 ideas you can do yourself to update your kitchen

Let’s face it, we’ve all been spending a lot more time at home this year than we anticipated and, with the colder weather looming, it looks as though this is set to continue over the coming months. Updating your home can be an easy way of keeping yourself busy while being stuck indoors, as well as helping to make your space feel more stylish and comfortable. This article from Real Homes delves into six DIY kitchen updates that you can do yourself, providing the perfect inspiration for a rainy weekend spent indoors!

When it comes to kitchens, a full renovation can often cost an arm and a leg. If you’re looking for ways to make simple yet effective updates that won’t cost a fortune, Real Homes suggests updating your cupboards with a fresh lick of paint, or even replacing your cupboard doors for a brand new look. Another tip on using paint to refresh your kitchen is to paint your floorboards. In this article, Real Homes suggests opting for a white colour scheme if you’re trying to achieve a sleek and modern feel, while darker colours and stencils can be used for a more unique look!

If you thought replacing your splashbacks was a task only suitable for specialists, then think again. According to this article, it’s simpler than you may think to add a pop of colour or texture by updating your splashbacks, and you can even purchase stick-on tiles for an even easier and more affordable method! We really love the idea of switching up the knobs and handles on our kitchen cupboards too, providing an inexpensive and effortless way of making a real difference to your space.

This article proves that it’s easier than you may think to give your kitchen a fresh new look, so if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, why not try out one of these easy and affordable ideas? We’d love to see the results of your DIY weekend projects!

Good Homes – Best sofas 2020: 8 trending styles for your living room

A new sofa isn’t something we are able to purchase often. However, when the time comes around to update your seating, it’s important you get it right! We live with our sofas for years so it’s vital to ensure whatever you choose is comfy, stylish and will stand the test of time. This article from Good Homes is perfect if you are toying with the idea of buying a new sofa, or if you spot the style of your settee within the piece, you’ll be reassured that your current set up is up-to-date and bang on trend!

The sofa styles included within the article are contemporary classic, cloud-effect, fuss-free design, monochrome, legless design, dark luxury, beige and tan leather. We love the idea of dark luxury and the example used for this trend is a super stylish corner sofa. Good Homes notes that corner suites are typically slouchy and informal, providing the ultimate comfort. However, the dark luxury sofa maintains comfort but is sturdy and makes a strong statement, while its dark grey colour makes it easy to keep clean!

We had never heard of cloud-effect sofas before reading this article but now that we have seen the example, it’s certainly a trend to watch! Cloud-effect couches are curvaceous and are perfect for people that dislike boxy lines. We think you’d have to have quite a large living space to position a curvy sofa as it can’t sit flush against any walls; it would look just perfect in a spacious and bright open plan living space!

What style is your sofa? We have Victorian Chesterfield, mid-century modern, black leather and cosy corner styles between us at jmm PR (and we can’t wait to kick back and relax on them this weekend!).
