New 6th Sense Fresh Control refrigeration technology from Whirlpool

Maximising food freshness with the minimum of waste must be the mantra for us all today.  Maintaining the freshness of fruit and vegetables for longer and eliminating cost by minimising wastage, as well as reducing the time we spend shopping are all great benefits for the busy consumer today.  With Whirlpool’s latest refrigeration this comes naturally!

In response to the latest consumer demands Whirlpool’s new 6th Sense® Fresh Control is a new innovative technology that delivers outstanding conservation performance. Developed by Whirlpool’s experts it keeps food safe, appealing, nutritious and tasty for longer.

Dean McKelvie, Freestanding Product Marketing Manager, says: “Keeping food in good condition for longer is not as easy as it sounds. It is not as simple as just lowering the temperature.  Extending the quality and lengthening food storage times is the aim of 6th Sense® Fresh control technology and we have achieved this through the precise and constant control of temperature and humidity levels throughout the entire refrigerated cabinet.”

To achieve the balance for good food preservation the temperature and humidity levels are critical.  Too low humidity levels result in the produce losing weight and valuable nutritional elements, while a too high humid environment leads to the growth of mould and bacteria and compromises the texture and appearance of the food.

The new 6th Sense® Fresh Control technology by Whirlpool guarantees perfectly humidified refrigeration in the whole cabinet.  It conserves food for up to four times longer¹ and restores the conservation temperature ten times faster thanks to 6th Sense® technology.

“This innovation ensures that consumers can keep food as fresh as the day they bought it.  For example ham will be fresh four days longer, spinach three days longer and pears up to 17 days longer! This is great convenience and resource saving for today’s busy consumer. Food conservation performance is an important and crucial factor in the choice of refrigerator today; this presents a superb trade-up opportunity for the enterprising retailer at the point of sale,” concludes Dean.
