According to WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), consumers are wasting 60 tonnes of food each year, with an average family throwing away £700 worth of food a year.1 Food wastage can be reduced by a number of factors; cooking large portions of food and freezing them when they are at their freshest is one of them. The AWM 505/IX features Whirlpool’s renowned Jet Defrost option for evenly distributed, quick defrosting. This allows consumers to defrost efficiently and quickly, without the need for meals to be planned in advance or wait for dishes to defrost at room temperature before cooking. Fresh vegetables can easily be turned into soups or stews instead of being thrown away, reducing amounts of overall food wastage. Similarly to pre-heating an oven for perfect cooking results, the built-in microwave automatically provides the ideal settings for a range of dishes thanks to the JetStart function which heats dishes for a maximum time of 30 seconds before cooking at the chosen setting commences.
