WHIRLPOOL’S SIDE-BY-SIDES GET NEW ICE-MAKING TECHNOLOGY

With one of the biggest research and development teams in the business and a commitment to pride, passion and performance, Whirlpool is constantly looking to improve and upgrade its appliances in response to consumer demands and changing trends.
Ease of use and maximum effectiveness are two of the most important elements in the company’s ethos and are perfectly exemplified in the subtle but radical new changes to the ice making facilities on Whirlpool’s range of side-by-side fridge freezers.
The attractive and capacious models, equipped with Whirlpool’s patented 6th Sense® technology have now advanced their ice-maker to a new level. Previously the ice-maker was positioned in the main freezer compartment, while the ice container was in the inner door. The new ice-maker is an all-in-one unit located in the inner door to free-up 20% useful freezer space.
Dean McKelvie, Product Marketing Manager, Freestanding for Whirlpool comments: “We are forever striving to improve the appearance and the performance of our appliances in line with the wishes of our consumers. The introduction of our new ice-maker on our side-by-sides is an important development and much more than just an aesthetic makeover.
“Much thought and research has gone into producing a super efficient ice maker which occupies its own discreet space and can make up to1.3kg of ice a day. The other great advantage, of course, is that this independent solution gives the consumer valuable extra space in the freezer section in an age when capacity is of crucial importance.”
