These Three Rooms – Metro tiles: 8 ways to update your bathroom

If you’re looking to update your bathroom and need some tiling advice or if you hadn’t considered metro tiles for your project, check out this piece from These Three Rooms. The article highlights a variety of tiling patterns and features some gorgeous bathroom styles too.

Aptly named after the Paris Metro, the versatile wall covering is available in so many different variants, from blush pink to lime green, matte or glossy, bevelled or flat, complementing a variety of spaces. It’s also super effective to choose a different coloured grout in between the metro tiles, if you’re feeling brave enough!

The tiling patterns shown in this article include herringbone and basket weave as well as highlighting how laying the tiles diagonally can make a bold statement in the bathroom. Also featured is two patterns combined in different areas of the room, which sounds like it wouldn’t work but it really does! Metro tiles aren’t always clinical and white, so if you’re not sure what tiles to choose for your bathroom, we’d definitely recommend reading this piece as it is jam-packed with inspiration.

Real home: ‘I made my own happy place’

We’re big fans of a home tour at jmm PR, whether it’s a glimpse into a celebrity’s abode or a real life renovation story, we love a looking at other people’s home décor. This article from YourHomeStyle gives a tour of a 1950s house that has been renovated into a forever home. Each and every room has its own personality, while fitting in with the overall vibrant look of the house. The homeowner gives some great interior design tips and the images give us serious style envy, so this article just had to be one of our favourites this week!

From looking at the images in the article, it becomes clear that the homeowner is an artwork enthusiast. The gallery walls featured in the living space and daughter’s bedroom, as well as the various other prints that can be found around the home, make a bold statement and add a fun edge to each room.  Our favourite room has to be the living space with the navy blue sofa, striking floral cushions and fabulous neon sign!

Not only is this article great to look at, we have actually learnt a thing or two from the homeowner. “Steer clear of fleeting interior trends. Fashion will come and go but if you stick to what you personally like, you are more likely to create a home style that will last over the years” is something we will certainly take heed of.
